ACCT UK is a 90+ year old national youth charity dedicated to improving the life chances of young people. Our mission is to help young people across the UK to develop and achieve through the Army Cadet Force (ACF), giving them life-changing chances of self-development.
ACCT UK wants to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and be inspired through their Army Cadet experience. We provide financial and other help to make this so, especially where cost is a barrier to participation or achievement. We also develop the youth leadership and training abilities of adult volunteers in the Army Cadets, providing financial help for qualifications.
As a charity, we help young people to access ACF activities through fundraising, grant-making, developing new resources and direct support:
Each year, we empower over 38,000 young people, support over 5,000 adult volunteers, and in the last 10 years, we have made grants of £4.5M to help cadets or adult volunteers acquire accredited qualifications, take part in educational activities abroad, acquire First Aid skills, participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and outward bound activities, learn a musical instrument, sponsor sporting competitions, or support Cadet Counties in purchasing equipment for a wide range of developmental activities.
Jordan Banks was a 9 year old boy from Blackpool who Jordan (Wylie) had the pleasure and privilege of meeting several times. Jordan was a happy, adventurous and beautiful soul who touched the life’s of so many people with his infectious charm, warm heart and cheeky smile. On 11th May 2021, Jordan was attending his football training session when he was tragically struck by lightening which resulted in his young life being cut short. 25% of funds from the Tower Power 2024 project will go to a memorial wall created by “Murwalls” in Blackpool and it will be opened and revealed at the finish of the expedition in Blackpool, April 2024. Jordan’s family have given their full approval and support of this special project for a very special little boy.
We’re inspiring people to get active and rewarding them by planting trees, protecting wild areas, and showing them the positive impact their activity has.
We are the founders of the 1% Club – planting a tree for you every day you’re active. A club that is open to everyone, whatever your level of fitness or health. We want to make being active a habit and turn that habit into something that does incredible things for you and the planet.
Our mission is to get 1% of the UK (and beyond) active for Earth, and in doing so, we’ll plant over 11 million trees a month together.
Expedition STEM is a not for profit community interest project set up by Jordan Wylie MBE to help young people engage with Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths through the medium of adventure.
Jordan was a boy that struggled at school with these key subjects but found them so much easier to digest and understand as his pursued his passion of adventure.
Jordan realised that these subjects are so much more fun, relatable and make sense when used in the context of advebture instead of direct from a text book using theoretical examples.
Jordan hopes Expedition STEM will help inspire many young people like him who sometimes struggle with key core STEM subjects in the classroom.
